Rancho Vista Men’s Club Slow Play Issues
This reminder is to make players aware of some issues which create slow play. I think all in all our club does very well getting around the golf course in a timely manner. However, there are a few issues we would like to address as a club, which might help out:
1) Upon arriving to the golf course, check your tee time and ask the Pro Shop if the club is on time or not. Please arrive one hour before your scheduled tee time.
2) When your name or group is announced at the 7 minute call, you should head towards the first tee.
3) While driving to your golf ball, if possible park in a neutral area where both players can proceed to their golf ball. When it’s your turn, be ready to hit your shot.
4) Another huge contributor to slow play is on the putting green. Many players wait until it’s their turn to start their routine to putt. If you’re not in the line of another player, move around and get a line on your putt so you’re ready when it’s your turn. A good rule of thumb to follow is when it’s your turn, you should be able to put your ball down, line up your putt and make the stroke in 30 – 40 seconds or sooner. This time starts the moment the previous players ball stops on the green. If you have a pre shot routine that exceeds this time, please shorten it. Next time you’re out playing a round of golf, time your playing partner and see how close to the time they are. Have someone time you as well. This will allow you to make adjustments if necessary.
5) Finally, there should never be a slow play issue if all members keep pace with the group in front of them. If you’re playing a hole and you lose sight of the group in front of you, speed up.
6) All rounds should take no longer than 4 ½ hours.
